Description:

The January 2017  Napa Zodiac is the 10th, 11, and 12th. We will be staying at the Chablis Inn in Napa, which is where we have stayed for a number of years. The address is 3360 Solano Ave. just off the Redwood off-ramp and Highway 29. Turn left and Solano is the first left hand turn after you get off Highway 29.

The nightly rates are $79 for a king bed and $89 for two queens. The rooms are not being held by a credit card so I suggest you make your reservations soon. They usually don’t fill up this time of year however. There is usually a longer cancellation policy but they will allow us to cancel 72 hours prior to the ride in case of rain. (If there is doubt about the weather I will see if I can get them to give us a shorter cancellation notice.) If the ride is cancelled because of rain I will cancel all the rooms unless you tell me differently.  When you make your reservation let them know you are with the Wheelmen. We do get a special rate because we are longtime customers.  You can reach the Chablis Inn at (707) 257-1944 or info@chiblisinn.com

On the 10th you can start in Sacramento (no sag unless you drop off the day before) or in Winters in the municipal parking lot in downtown. There will be a sag there. If you park your car in Winters I will notify the local Police Department and give them the license number of your vehicle.  You can also drive to Napa and start riding back to meet the riders coming from Winters.  The distance from Sacramento is about 85 miles, and the distance from Winters is about 52. The ride to Winters is flat. The section between Winters and the Silverado Trail is hilly with several long climbs. Once you arrive at the Silverado Trail it returns to flat. The middle day will be about 50 miles or shorter and it will be mostly flat unless you decide to do some optional climbing.  We will talk about the options at the social hour on Tuesday.

We will head back to Winters on the 12th or you can ride locally and then drive home.

Across the street from the Chablis Inn there is a pizza restaurant, the Squeeze Inn (which is the local hamburger joint) and a gourmet grocery store. They have a huge variety of wines and beers. There is a very good Mexican restaurant for dinner just up the street. There are also lots of local restaurants if you want to explore.   We will provide soft drinks and munchies. You are on your own tab for wine and beer.  The Bicycle Works is right next to the pizza place for those who need or forget some important pieces of equipment.

If you have any questions please call me at (916) 443-4514 or contact me at hmbaker!@sbcglobal.net. Please let me know that you are going and be sure I have a contact number of e-mail address.
